What is Physical Security and why is it so important?

Whenever we talk about 'security' these days there will be 2 main elements that form the basis of the discussion. One is data security, which can be a wide term that can apply to networks, their design their usage, and their protection from both hackers and prying eyes. The other element will be 'physical security'.

The term Physical Security will be applied most often to the activities that are used to keep people and physical assets like buildings secure.

However, it should be considered that successful physical security will ensure security risks and incidents will be lower and this is likely to have positive impacts not only on the results of the organization, as they simply have less downtime and fewer losses reducing profitability, but in addition, there is ample evidence to suggest that a workforce that feels safe at work will simply perform better, as well as seeing their employers as a group that truly cares about them and their welfare. At Genetix we term this the 'Glassdoor effect.'
